The Artists

Timothy and Nancy LeRoi Nickel have devoted three decades to the performance and research of music for one piano-four hands. They have performed twice at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in New York, gave their London debut in 1990 in the Purcell Room and were invited to appear at the South Bohemian Music Festival in the Czech Republic in 1996. The Nickels received the Advanced Certificate at the Guildhall School in London and currently teach at Marylhurst University. In the summer of 2000 they inaugurated the first Piano Duet Festival by the Sea in Lincoln City, Oregon, dedicated to the performance and study of the unique and bountiful repertoire of original music for one piano-four hands. The Arsis label from E. C. Schirmer in Boston (www.arsisaudio.com) has released three CDs of duet music by the Nickels.

Angela Carlson and Rebecca Jeffers are faculty members of the Oregon State University Department of Music and have played piano duets together for 25 years. Ms. Carlson is an opera preview lecturer for the Linn-Benton Opera Guild and a highly regarded vocal accompanist. She studied at the Universities of Idaho and Wisconsin, the Guildhall School of Music in London, and Aspen School of Music. Rebecca Jeffers is well known to audiences throughout the Northwest as a collaborative pianist and chamber musician. She holds degrees from Carleton College and the University of Michigan.
